I love stats. Stats give shape to my excursions and road trips. Stats provide targets and milestones to the experienced cacher and motivation to the newbie. Cherishing your stats isn’t (necessarily) about competing with people or being the best or fastest; they are largely there to help you compete with yourself and be the best cacher that you want to be, living your best caching life.
Here’s some of my favourite Tentmantent stats:
- Despite Covid-19, 2020 and 2021 were my two best caching years in over 15 years playing this game, with 1,384 and 1,276 finds respectively. Looks like I really went for it when we were released from lockdown!
- One of my travelbugs, ‘Patch the Lady Travelbug’ (TB19864 ) had travelled over 108,000 miles and visited all but one of the continents. She is now semi-retired here in my desk drawer, waiting for someone to take her on a trip to Antarctica!
- The distance between each of my 11,000+ caches in total is equivalent to over 3/4 of the distance from the earth to the Moon! (299,043 km)
- I am the East Midlands’ leading finder of caches in Macau (14) and China (17)
- I am the East Midland’s second placed finder of caches in Hong Kong (34), Zimbabwe (8), Malawi (2) and Botswana (4)
- I am the UK’s leading finder of caches in Zambia (8) !
- I have found caches in three countries on the same day (UK, Denmark and Sweden)
- I have found caches in 11 counties on the same day (Bristol, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Torafaen, Newport, Caerphilly, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend)
- I once found 11 types of cache on the same day (Traditional, Multi, Mystery, Lab, Virtual, Event, Mega Event, Letterbox, Earthcache, Wherigo and CITO)
But perhaps my favourite personal stat is that I have twice attended hospital as a result of a Caching-related injury!
